SHA-AFFILIATED STUDENT ASSOCIATION REGISTRATION & STUDENT CARD

Registration for the 2026-2027 school year begins in August.
All students must register at the beginning of each school year HERE

Exchange students need to pay 2.500 ISK for the semester (5.000 ISK for the whole school year).*

International students who pay registration fees to the University of Akureyri need to register with their SHA-affiliated student association each year. Registration is free until September 15, 23:59. After the registration deadline ends, you have to pay 5.000 ISK membership fee for the school year and 2.500 for the semester. 

Those who choose not to register as a member of an SHA-affiliated student association will not gain access to SHA's student card, may be denied access to events hosted by associations, or denied free drinks and food at their events. All students are registered in SHA and therefore get access to all events organized by SHA, but do not receive the special benefits that an affiliated association offers to its members.

*The Student Association of the University of Akureyri reserves the right to collect membership fees from exchange students studying at the University of Akureyri and who have registered with the Student Association the the University of Akureyri, provided they have not paid registration fees to the university.

SHA-affiliated Student Associations 

SHA has seven affiliated student associations, divided by academic fields. SHA encourages students to choose the student associations connected to the field in which they are studying. This gives students the opportunity to get to know other students in the same programme or field of study.

Student Electric Card

Students  who register as members of SHA-affiliated student associations will get access to the SHA student card for the 2026-2027 school year on Semptember 1. Those students who register after September 1 will get access on September 16 after registration ends.

You can access our electronic student card in the App Store and Google Play, the app is called Stúdentafélag HA. 

With the student card, you can take advantage of the various discounts that can be found in our app.

Be sure to ask if vendors have school offers, it is very common for discounts to be given on presentation of an electronic school card.
