New Executive Board of SHA Elected at the Association’s Annual General Meeting
The Annual General Meeting of the Student Association of the University of Akureyri (SHA) was held earlier today, March 16, 2026, and was well attended by students from all faculties as well as member associations of the student union. At the meeting, students came together to discuss the association’s activities, take a stance on key issues, and elect representatives to vacant positions within the Student Council.
Prior to the meeting, amendments to the association’s bylaws had been approved, increasing the number of members on the Executive Board from three to six. The aim of this change is to strengthen the association’s operations, improve the distribution of responsibilities, and create an even stronger platform for students to influence their immediate environment, the university community, a vibrant student life, and strong advocacy for student interests.
The new Executive Board of SHA was elected through an electronic vote conducted via Ugla, where all students of the University of Akureyri had the opportunity to vote for or reject candidates.
