Over the years, the Golden Plover has been a herald of spring at the University of Akureyri. In a news item on the university’s website from 2020 it states:
Since HA began its operations at Sólborg, the Golden Plover and its mate have been a faithful presence every April, each spring. It is possible that the same pair has returned for 25 years—after all, the species can live up to 30 years. At first, it nested by the roadside north of the Sólborg area, but has since moved up onto the roof of the G-building, which houses a new recording studio and the Centre for Academic and Career Counseling.
We sincerely hope that the Golden Plover is right 🌞
