The proposal constitutes a comprehensive revision of the union’s bylaws, with the aim of aligning them with the current operations of SHA, clarifying roles and responsibilities within its governance structure, and strengthening internal organization, transparency, and student advocacy. The proposed amendments have been prepared by a special Legal and Policy Committee appointed by the Student Council during the Autumn semester of 2026. The full proposal will be published separately on SHA’s media platforms and website. The main proposed changes include, among other things: Clearer delineation of the roles of the Executive Board, the Student Council, and departmental associations Expansion of the Executive Board from three to six members, through the introduction of a Student Rights Officer, an International Officer, a Communications Officer, an Events Director, and the evolution of treasurer into Director of Operations. Formal definition of the SHA Student Rights Office Updated structure for standing committees and temporary committees Clearer rules regarding finances, signatory authority, transparency, and the mandates of committees and councils Reorganization of the election and roles of student representatives in University councils Transitional provisions ensuring continuity in the implementation of new positions and terms of office The Bylaws Amendment Meeting may only address proposed amendments to the Bylaws of SHA. All full members of SHA have the right to attend, propose motions, and vote at the meeting. The Student Council’s proposal covers the bylaws in their entirety and will be presented at the meeting. Amendments to the Student Council’s proposal may be introduced during the meeting itself. Full members of SHA may also submit alternative or additional proposals for amendments to the current bylaws to the Executive Board up to two days prior to the advertised meeting. Such proposals will be published at the latest one day before the meeting and taken up for discussion and decision at the meeting. The Student Council of SHA encourages members to review the proposals, attend the Bylaws Amendment Meeting, and participate actively in discussion and voting. Should the Student Council’s proposal be approved, elections and appointments will follow the updated bylaws, which will otherwise enter into force at the Annual General Meeting of SHA to be held on 16 March 2026.
